I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1968 BEAR SUPER KODIAK, THAT HAS A HOLE DRILLED THROUGH THE TOP LIMB. MY QUESTION. WHY WOULD ANYONE DRILL A HOLE THROUGH THE LIMB? HOLE HAS BEEN FILLED WITH SOME TYPE OF FILLER.DOES ANYONE KNOWN IF THIS CAN BE REPAIRED, SO IT WON'T BE NOTICEABLE? WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION!

I am not sure how far up your limb the hole is, but at times guys would drill a hole near the tip of the bow so they could tie on a thin piece of string to be used as a wind detector.

There was probably a clicker mounted there.

That was done for longbows and selfbows then and now. With a thin material tied in a loop those bows could be stored from the tip. I believe that Black Widow offers that option. <')))><

Be more clear. Where in the limb is it?

Maybe a home made string keeper.

More than likely a string keeper threaded through it.

The limb is pretty long. Where is the hole? Can't make any kind of educated guess without more information.

A friend has a widow with the same thing. It was done as a display bow at events so it could be identified if it went missing. Apparently alot of vendors have trouble with bows walking off at a event where you can take a bow to try at the range. Widow told him this is not a problem and can be filled if desired.

I had a Widow 2pc longbow with a hole and stringkeeper thru it. Worked great. Loved it.

I believe it was standard for Widow to drill a hole near the tip with the introduction of the PL model longbows after dropping the LAG. Too many folks of the younger generation objected, so Widow dropped it as standard.

I have a few old lemonwood longbows with the hole drilled.
