The Toelke Chinook is definitely an exception to rule. 51@28 58". Wonderfully smooth bow, not twitchy at all like some short bows are for me. The finish is flawless. This bow is a winner for sure. I have a Super Static coming mid week. It's a 64" bow also 51@28. If it shoots better than the Chinook I'll be ecstatic :)

Pretty bow!

64" is not a short bow Steve. In longbows, I consider it moderate length, since we now have so-called longbows that are 56 or 58 inches short. 8^).

Think ya missed it George

Wow that's pretty, congratulations.

I kind of like shooting shorter bows too. One I really enjoyed was a Bear Super Mag. 48" & I draw 29" with a recurve. Sadly it developed a crack & I've retired it. I have a Fox Breed that's 58" & a really nice shooter.

That's a nice bow fer sure. I have 58,60,& 62in longbows that Feel about the same to me. Don't notice any difference in how they shoot. I have a 66 incher, that's really smooth, but is also #8 lighter. Don't know if its the length or weight, that's making a difference.

58" isn't short. I consider 64" long:)

Remember when recurves were 66" and longbows were 72"?

From: Steve Milbocker

Short for me Zman, I rarely shoot recurves shorter than 60" and prefer 62":)

Thanks again everybody. I'm more of a fan of darker wood, bow was a trade...but it might grow on me:)

58"? I thought you said a short bow???

I have three vintage 56" Grayling Grizzlies. 45, 50, 55 lb. All are wonderful shooters. I practice all winter with the 45 and then move up a few pounds for the hunt. Wish O'l Fred was still alive so I could thank him for hours of fun and satisfaction.

Tulipwood will grow on you Steve. It really looks cool.

That's my sons old bow. It is a awsome bow and very easy on the eyes. I also have a chronograph and its the fastest we have owned. The only reason we sold it was to get a chinook takedown. He also killed 5 deer this year with it. If you decide to sell it let me know. Thanks Darrell

Been shooting it awhile tonight. I'm starting to think I'd keep it even if it was pink:)

My favorite non-selfbow is a bamboo/osage/osage tri-lam d/r that is 58" ntn and light as a feather. 58#@28". No stack, manuverable as my pointer finger. I should be in love with her... but I need less :^)

Through different posts it looked like the original owner was from South Carolina. Is that your boy? The 3 light spots on the upper limb makes it easy to identify. It has had a weight reduction to 51#. Probably why it looks new! I hope it has many more deer in its future:)

Steve that does look good. The shooting is the main thing; the looks are the icing on the cake. That bow I got from you is looking pretty good too.

"Short" longbows? No such thing;^) If it's short, it aint long!

Doug she's a shooter for sure. Your still liking the Ghost I take it?

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Well....it's not the first time. 8^). I would like to blame it on eyesight, but prolly not.

From: Doug Mays

Steve, I am liking it. I really like the way is sends a heavy arrow down range.

From: Biathlonman
Date: 08-Apr-14

That one came to me used at #55. I sent it back to Dan and had him drop it down to #51 and refinish it to match my #51 T/D then passed it along to Calhoun for his boy. That's all I know about it.

Steve, Beautiful bow!..The one picture..I think you have it braced about 2" too much tho..:(.. I enjoy shooting a 58" Damon Howatt Hi Speed that's close to 70#@30" draw..No issues..

My shortest 'longbow' is 62"..:)

By all means..fiddle with the brace height a bit on that Toelke..I think you'll find that a 7,25" brace height measured from rear of arrow shelf to bowstring will really make a great difference..and those shorter limbs will truly perform for you..Jim

From: Steve Milbocker

Shes braced at 7 Jim,quiet and good arrow flight. Those bows are deceiving, especially in pictures.

Steve..Thot I'd ask..:)..and yes..not easy to take great pictuers..:).. That is a great looking bow..Tulipwood with juniper lams..a keeper!..:) The utah and alligator juniper are oft overlooked great bow woods..esp in glas lam bows..

This is a self bow I made for my wife 20 years ago that's still shooting well..Alligator juniper I cut in Arizona..

Best regards, Jim
