I like narrow limb tips and deep string grooves. Never had a problem with one breaking. Has anyone else?

Nope..Never have had a tip fail even on bows well over 80#@30".... With well done overlays, I like the topside of the groove cut so the bowstring ( 15 strands) is about 75% laying in that groove..Same with the sides..and of course rounded, proper angle and smooth..

With horn nocks..same..This bow is 77#@30"..Jim

Tip on my new Groves Spitfire

I made a recurve with skinny tips like Ibex's and it blew both tips at once with a fastflight string.Only one I ever saw do that.

Ibex, I wondered the same thing when I saw one of the new Bear '59 Kodiaks. The string grove looked like it was cut almost to the limit to me, but I'm definitely not a bowyer. Clint

Ibex- was that with a dry fire or just an ordinary shot?

I haven't busted one yet. The reason I'm asking is that I like them narrow. I just finished a bow for guy that's concerned about them being so narrow. I'm under thw impression that the majority of the string force is directed down the limbs.

Oop! My bad- I meant 4nolz@work, did your narrow tips blow up on a dry-fire, a normal shot, or a very light arrow- like 7 gpp or less?

No hunting weight 10gpp no dry fires

I would hate to warranty such bows and understand Bears history of "overbuilt tips" to counteract the idiot factor.
