Folks, the 16th annual "The Real Thing", hosted by Amite River Traditional Archery Club LLC will be held again at the Waddill Wildlife 250 acre Refuge.

The Dates are April 26th, 27th & 28th, 2014.

25 3D targets, some moving, novelty shoots, door prizes and more. Vendors are certainly welcome and pay no Vendor's fees and can set up on Friday.

Great area and people putting this shoot on.

I went to this a few years ago(invited by bayoubowman Mark?)over at TG...I had a really good time,met Tim of Acadian woods bows and got to shoot a bunch of his bows....plus some others.

The skunk on a moving rail and the Gator in the pond was the site of a lot of destroyed and lost arrows ;) The swinging Gorilla was pretty neat also...foam footballs with feathers for a novelty shoot was fun,never hit one. One of the best shoots I've been too. Oh and don't forget the Crawdad boil!

The other thing that sticks out in my mind....Seed Ticks! 100's of them...wear some DEET or some other kind of repellant.

We would love to have more vendors attend and we do not charge vendors. At one time, we had one of our members that loved moving targets. He was responsible for all the movers and he is no once with us. We do have movers but not the skunk, Gator or Gorilla. Don't hold my feet to the fire but we are working on a special moving target that comes straight at you while you are trying to shoot at it.

That bottom right hand arrow is where I would shoot a pig..that's why I never place in these events or try to. All the rest of them hit the shield and they lost the pig.

It's all about fun for me.

ARTAC folks, I had a great time at your shoots in the past! If you out-of-staters are looking for a reason to vist Louisiana....Come to this shoot. Great location, good group of folks, Good food at a decent price, novelty shoots in the middle of Crawfish season. What's not to like? A kid frendly event event.

No operating system, no username or password needed! Just good fun and a quallity course.

LaGriz, Looking forward to meeting you. Good luck on you on your elk hunt! I', planning on heading to Colorado to chase them wapiti. I talked to Bisch on the texas forum, Him and a friend are driving in from Texas to shoot Saturday and Sunday!

This is a great shoot and a great setting. I have to go out of town for wedding and hate I will miss this shoot.

Fun shoot as usual, wish I could have stayed both days. Really enjoyed shooting with my new pals from Germany.

What natural surroundings help to make the target set-up lots of fun.

We got to shoot with old friends and new. I got to shoot with Tal McNeil as well as Peter & Sonya from Germany, what a really friendly pair of young people to shoot with.

It's great to know there are many that enjoy the same passion we all feel for traditional archery.

I was there at the awards ceremony. I can't remember all the classes, but If I see them posted on Artac's site I will paste them here. Male Recurve Jeremy McBeth took first with a 229. Myself and a gentleman from texas by the name of Rusty tied for second with 216. Mr Rusty had 13- 10's I had 11- 10's. That put me in third place. I really enjoyed the course. It was very challenging and realistic hunting situations with trees and branches to shoot around. The course is setup in rolling hills with big timber that provided shade throughout the day. Big thanks to Mr Mike Wesley, Mrs Cindra and all of the folks behind the scenes that made this shoot such a great time.

Had a great time with my 2 boys! Enjoyed meeting new friends and seeing old ones! My boys are ready to go again already! Thanks to Mr. Mike, Mrs. Cindra and all the other fine folks who make this possible!

Just to let you know Mrs. Cindra....he hasn't put the bow down yet! Asking to shoot it every chance he gets! You made his day!! Thanks again!

Had a good time! I wish to thank Mike, Mrs.Cindra, and the crew for their effort. The jamblia was good and I don't think I got to tell enyone how much we enjoyed the event.

Only wish I shot better. Course was chalanging with all the tree limbs and saplings blocking the targets. This is good training for actual hunting conditions for sure.
