Its a Ben Pearson. One of their top shelf Sovereign bows, re-labeled as a King Cobra. There was a lefty I was watching on e-bay and the seller said he could even detect the Sovereign label underneath the King Cobra one.

Well I answered this on another post of the same bow. LOL. So I won't repeat it. That is not Brazilian Rosewood, it may be walnut, and Yorktown5 is right.

I'm on thin ice Bluntarrow as I can't get too specific about the book I just finished, but there is not a complete when-how-many-who for Pearsons. Of all the catalogs I've looked over, this bow OR the Pearson Cobra don't show up. Sovereign Pearson's were, if price is any indicator, very high end bows costing roughly twice a Kodiak. But, I have no hands on experience with this bow. I really like the shorter Pearson Cobra though.

I'll bet she braces high, even to 9" or so, but I'm guessing. Hope this photo uploads, here's the future Mrs. Earl Hoyt drawing that bow. Note the long riser, short limbs (on the bow, not Ann)

thanks rick,so far it looks like a lord sovereign which maybe a lord mercury WITHOUT the mercury,i was drawn to this bow as it looks like the love child of two of my favourite bows, the pro medlist meets the del ray:-)

I think the one Ann is drawing is a Golden Conqueror, same design though. The Sovereign is slimmer than the Mercury, see my screen capture.

Wait, yours looks like the Emperor. Hmmm...

Is that one photo or did you splice? If one shot, then yours could still be the Emperor. Pretty weren't they?

With Pearson's I make no bets, but in your last photo, the Marauder appeared in 1970 and I think the Raider is even newer...never seen one. I only think this as well, but 1965 seems to be the first Sovereign catalog??? And there are quite a few variations and names along the way. Mace, Lady, Queen, Knight, a Silver series and I don't know what all else.

My Lord Sovereign might be an early one. The '65 catalog shows it with a multi-piece riser, matching the Mercury of that year. Take a look at this one, with no phenolic, just a (presumably) B. Rosewood riser made from two bookmatched "cheeks". Anyone have access to a 1964 Pearson Sovereign catalog?

BTW I think Ann Hoyt (in the photo above) may have been pulling a 1962 Golden Monarch or Golden Regent. I am fortunate to have tracked down examples of all three of the bows in this 1962 advertisement. None of these bows appears in the regular Pearson catalog for 1962. In the ad copy they are identified as the Golden Sovereign Series (in 1962!).

On the topic of brace height for the Golden Sovereign bows, Pearson recommended 7" to 7 1/2" - measured from the string to the nearest point of the arrow shelf (not today's standard farthest point of grip).
