Folks, this coming June, 2014 will be the 10th anniversary of the "HOWARD HILL SOUTHEASTERN CLASSIC".

What better way to celebrate this event than to raffle off a Commemorative Howard Hill "TEMBO", Howard's favorite bow and along with the bow, a Commemorative uniquely designed Belt Buckle to go with it.

Not only does the winner of the bow get this buckle, but these buckles will be awarded to the winners of the Men & Women's Championship Shoot-Off, the "One Shot~One Kill" competition for those using Howard Hill Style Bows and the winners of the regular competition of the Howard Hill Classic.

There are ten divisions competing over the weekend for the HH Classic. There has alway been 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Plaques for the winners of the Cubs, Youth, Junior, Women's Longbow~Recurve~Self Bow, Men's Longbow~Recurve~Self Bow & Seniors classes.

There is one of these beautiful "Belt Buckle" for each division. NOW, HERE'S THE TWIST!

The 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winners in each of these divisions will have to have a shoot-off to see who gets the "Belt Buckle". This way, even though a competitor may have taken 1st place in their class, they won't automatically get the buckle, the 2nd & 3rd Place competitors will have a chance to take home this Commemorative "Belt Buckle".

Believe me folks, this photos doesn't nearly do the Bow or Buckle justice. By the way, the Elephant inlay is 14 karat gold.

Will the bow be made to the winner's specs?

Yes, the bow you see is the twin made for me. There will only be two and the winners bow will be identical to mine but made to their specs.

What's really cool about the "TEMBO", is it's made with an African theme. African Blackwood in the riser, Caramelized Bamboo limbs, Ivory bow tips and rhinoceros skin for the grip wrap.

I had the great pleasure to attend with my son Longbowsmith and my grandson Strider in 2012. This is a GREAT TRADITIONAL SHOOT and I recommend it to anyone who loves this sport.

The Howard Hill Southeastern Classic is held at Tannehill Historical State Park in McCalla, AL. The dates are June 6th, 7th & 8th, 2014.

Maybe the angle on the photo.....the broadhead looks more like a Hunter's Head than a Howard Hill.

Well raghorn, all I know is that John Lee, a very good friend of Howard Hill and a Hill memorabilia collector, gave me the broadhead that I used the for image and I was told it was an authentic Hill broadhead.

I hope it is, but the main thing is, DO YA LIKE THE BUCKLE, LOL!!.

Well, I spoke with Paul Jalon today and commented on how beautiful the arrows I got from him are.

Paul, after seeing the photos wasn't satisfied with the color of the arrows in matching up with the bow.......he's sending me another dozen. Of course he wants the arrows for this bow as well as the winner's bow to be as close as he can to match the coors in the bow.

I said he certainly didn't have to because I thought they are beautiful as they are, but he insisted, so because of the spine of these arrows, Rhonda's tickled to death.

The reason for me writing about this is that I had heard what type of quality arrows Paul makes, but I have now also found out that this man has tremendous character as well.

Paul obviously isn't just satisfied with producing a quality arrow, he makes an OUTSTANDING ARROW for his customers.

Terry, can you verify the year Howard Hill was born, I have two different years. 1899 @ 1900, and was it not 1951 when he shot his first elephant.

Frank, Howard Hill was born in 1899 and all I know is that he killed his elephant sometime in the early 50's.

Terry: Just asking a question. Why the "Hunters head" on the buckle instead of a Howard Hill head? Bob

Well Bob, the picture I'm posting is a broadhead that John Lee gave me at Compton Rendezvous three years ago.

It's my understanding that Mr Lee not only knew Howard Hill but has one of the largest collections of Mr Hill's memorabilia around.

I was assuming it was a Hill broadhead that I was given.

I feel that 3D Silversmith's did a good job in copying the image I gave them.

If it's the wrong broadhead, it's my fault for not delving further, just trusted John knew what he was giving me.

You see Raghirn and Bob, it IS my fault for not checking into the broadhead.

Not being that familiar with older broadheads, I found a Hunters Head broadhead on line and the one I have seems to be just that.

Hopefully the buckle will be worth having anyway, because they're WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to do them over :-)

Folks, I got the arrows in today that Paul Jalon said would be a closer match to the Commemorative Bow (he wasn't satisfied with his previous work). I personally think they're still beautiful.

Now, these other arrows, WOW!!!

These are the arrows that will be given with the "Tembo", or at least if not these, ones just like them.

Paul left these arrows full length and haven't been cut, just in case the winner has a bow made the same poundage and theses arrows will be the right spine. If not, Paul will make the arrows for the winners specs.
