Geez. I never got that. I liked the names but I never made the connection. What a maroon am I!?!?!
I feel as dumb as I did on the day that I figured out why the town was named "Hooterville" in the Petticoat Junction TV series. But, at least I have an excuse that the show was first aired when I was -1.

Mine's a Sky Hawk. I think that is a cool name. At least I did until today. It can't compete with RAMPANT FLYING SCOT but, it does have a compass.
If it had a "thing this thing that tells time" I'd have to be careful not to shoot my eye out. :)

I always thought the Bear CUB was pretty aptly named..:)
Most hunters can arrow-kill about everything they ever will get the chance to hunt with a 45# Bear Cub..:)
(Sure beats the name PSA ll..or whatever they are called now..:)
How about the Grumley "Deerslayer"?..a classic bow design-craftsmanship with a good name..
I'm sorta partial to the Damon Howatt "Hi-Speed"...or the "Hunter"..or the "Ventura"
or the Howard Hill "Redman" with laminated yew..
Never could get enamoured with the "Savage Deathmaster" name..:) ..Jim

How bad is this. I even messed up my own bow's name. It's "La otra mujer" that means the other woman. La otra madre would be the other mother. Anyway it's what the wife calls my bow. I call it different names depending on where the arrow hits. Here lately most of them have been 4 letters. Hope that bow gets it's act together before Saturday.

"Never really understood this one".
Actually the term "warf" meaning a riser adapted for ILF limbs and was named for Bob Gordon's dog. Bob was the pioneer of warfing bows.
We aren't discussing bows we like rather names for bows. My favorites were like others who liked Bear's names for the target bow line and the hunting bow line.
Also liked the name Super Diablo, so much I had to order one in 1969 or 70.
Another very descriptive name that sold a lot of bows was the Groves Spitfire.

It is our Protege model in a no-nonsense, durable, quiet, high performance bow...with a use it, abuse it, kill with it, and get'er done bow mindset. Bill Howland at Brackenbury was telling me about the names of his bows. His first design, the Quest, was just that-- an attempt to build the best recurve he could. Then he built a better one, and called it the Peerless... but the coolest name to me is his latest bow, the K2. It's named after the second highest mountain, as a personal reminder to himself that no matter how high you've set the bar, you can't get complacent-- there's always room to make it just a bit better.

I like the bow name Sheep Eater.
The Browning Fury is also a good one.

American Archery Cheetah, Hunter. Browning's Wasp, Nomad, Explorer, Challenge. Bear's Kodiak, Grizzly, Magnum. There are many model names I've thought were cool. The most unusual was the Bruce Chandler "Amulet". That had a nice ring to it.

Just saw a "Gladiator Spartacus" bow on Ebay. I guess 35 pounds will be enough for any lions in the Colosseum!

Here is a picture of one of an older Hill named "old Reliable" I also like the name "Burning Daylight" coined by John Wayne! I also like the name "Daylight in the Swamp!" Coined by Fred Bear! There are a lot of great name such as "Old Tom" I find many of fascinating and wonder the stories behind them! Like a yellow jacket kept pestering Howard while he was putting varnish on a bow, alas the name for that became "Yellow Jacket" Jacques

I've always liked Silent Assassin, but I've only got one kill and that was a squirrel. I put the Cherokee Sneak on that one, but that's a story for another day.
