Does anyone know if Shakespeare/Root/ Proline Golden Eagle was ever made in Left hand? I know that the the Shakespeare QT takedown was RH only but I have not found very little information on if the Golden Eagle was every made lefty. I would like to know if I am wasting my time looking.

Yes, the Golden Eagle was made in LH, although don't know how many were produced. I know Dicky Roberts had one. Denny Sturgis Sr

yes, they did make a left hand handled Qt takedown. I have one in rough shape somebody milled the hell out of it? Archery Research also made a left handed handle for a heftly extra $75.00 alot of money in the 70's.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I just saw the thread in a search application. I have a close friend with a very good original Root Golden Eagle, with 30# and 37# limbs. His is a 68" left handed bow.

He is looking for right handed handle and is willing to buy it or trade it for his current left hand handle.

Anyone interested please email me at ( [email protected] ) and I will provide pictures of his Golden Eagle. Please put Golden Eagle in the subject line so I don't toss the unknown address as spam.

Thanks,

Mark Marshall

It is a Grable. Phil designed the handles and Ernie Root designed the limbs on the early models. Phil started calling it a Grable after he left Proline and went on his own.

He also sold some of his bows under the Darton Executive name.

Yep. Phil made one of those for Larry Bamford back in the early 70's. Larry was hunting editor for Bowhunter Magazine back then.
