I have one and love it. 47#@27" 60" take down recurve. Quilted Maple veneers, Walnut Dymondwood riser, FF, Checkerd Grip, Antler Knobs, I shoot it with a plastic rest, Easton Axis 500, 28" arrow with 75 gr brass insert, 175 gr point. I changed the string, Brace height 7 3/4" Wool silencers and I put wool wraped around the ends of my string. Perfect arrow flight and very quite.

You made the right choice. Dave makes the nicest bows out there.

From: Biathlonman

Dave and Beth are some of the best in the business. They make one of the better bows out there if they fit what you like. They don't work for me, but they do for a bunch of people.

I have a two limb set that is just beautiful although the finish on one set of limbs leaves much to be desired. I have debated sending that set of limbs back for a refinish, but haven't done so yet. Oh well.

I sure like mine: smooth shooting, fast, handsome bow. I would order another if I had the money and c ould convince myself that I need another....

Among top bows I have shot. Right now it is my go to hunting bow and if I could only have one bow, it would be this one.

From: Arcus Pater

Dave abd Beth are wonderful people. Friendly, great to do business with and a pleasure to know.

The grip of a Schafer is the best I have found on any bow. From that grip comes the "pointability" and shoot where you look accuracy of the Schafer.

The Schafer is a great bow in all respects, you will not be disappoionted.

From: daniel boon
Date: 10-Jan-13

Awesome bows, top of the heap IMO. Make sure you get the checkered grip. I have 2 RC's a TD and a 1pc, and a 1pc LB due in april. Can hardly wait.

From: Werner

A bow from yesterday for tomorrow. Dave make his job well. You will become familiar within few shots. Look at the bow unstringed, quite agressive, but when you shoot - stable. That the secret about good bows. Best carver anyway.

My Silvertip is my go to bow, plain and simple! It would be the only bow I would not sell...While working at LAS/TradTech, I shot many bows over time....and no disrespect to any of them....but I always gravitate to the 'Tip! I sent it back this past winter to be reconditioned, it is over 10 years old, and was showing signs of age and use...Dave did a great job, added some checkering....and it looks better than new....he and Beth are two of the best to deal with.....

LUV2HUNT,

You made the right choice in my opinion! I currently own 9 Schafer Silvertips. Two are originals built by Paul Schafer, and the rest built by Dave. Two of Dave's bows are longbows, a take down and one piece. I love and shoot them all. Dave and Beth are two of the best in the business, they are a dream to work with and Dave puts the word "Custom" back into custom bows! I have exclusively shot Scahfer Silvertips for over 25 years. Best of luck with your new bow and enjoy!!!

My Silvertip is just about to make its way back to the original owner...he talked Dave into making him a 62 inch version of his r/d longbow and had Dave put his name and the bow's name, "Buck's Doom" on it...as much as it pains me to give up such a great shooter and looker I think the right thing to do is send it back to its rightful home

Not long after I got the bow I called Dave and told him that he is missing the boat on one count...I know good checkering and the man could be making a lot more money with his talent working for a British "best gun" maker...his checkering is the best buy in custom archery

Gotta love the smoothness of my 64"er! Like the bigger sight window in the longer riser. An honest 185fps and is a flat out shooter!

From: Philip West
Date: 21-Feb-13

Ordered one the first of Feb now for the 8 or 9 month wait.

From: cjgregory
Date: 23-Feb-13

I cant think of a better bow. Its the only bow I shoot. I have two sets of limbs. One set for training and one for hunting. I've tried and shot many different bows. What I do like is even though you can fit any silvertip limb set on your bow, You will still have to send the riser in to get a set made for it. That is good. Dave still custom fits them and custom tillers the limbs.

Fear the man with one bow who has been trained and has done the diciplined practice to be an expert.

I must say, the best part of owning all theses different Schafers is the friends I made along the way. Dave,

That is in fact the bow the I sold to you and I am glad to hear it's making it's way back to who I bought it from.. the original owner.

This is what I was saying earlier, there is almost a sub schafer community if the trad world and I am damn happy to have been a part of it.

My bows and all my pics cept one photo album burned 15 yhears ago or I'd show ya. But you know it seemed to me that my Shaffers Paul built had a bit narrower limbs out towards the tips. Could be wrong but it sure seemed that way to me. I had a one piece , then Paul called me when he came out with his td n I got one of those. Great shooting bows. I knew a lot of guys used his Bear td limbs also. They were fast and very smooth.

Rob,I have just received 2 Tips with Double Carbon, one for a friend and one for myself. Since I have other Tips @ the very same poundage I can make an accurate comparison with the Chrony, just give me some days to clear the Holidays.

Thanks Felix.....I have some limbs on order, and am considering the carbon, if the advantages are there.

How many of you have ordered a Silvertip with black Glass limbs? I'm thinking about a charcoal Riser and Black glass.

Cacciatore, did you get to chrono the double carbon limbs against the other limbs?

Quality bow, quality people. You'll be so happy!

No yet, it looks To be faster and it ask for a stiffer arrow than a same poundage action wood core or same arrow as a 3-4 # heavier limb. Maybe a little nosier.

I had 2 of Paul's bows, a one piece and a td the first year he made a td. They were the perfect hunting bow and shot like it. When I talked to Paul on the phone he told me that he'd do his best to make me a good bow. Guess that's one thing I liked about him was his modesty when it came to his bows. Anyhow that was such an understatement. The bow he sent me was fantastic in every way. Anyhow I've never shot one of Daves but if they shoot anything like Pauls you'll love it.

I like that bottom bow on the rack! I really need to find a Paul Schafer built bow to add to my Dave made Schafer.
