An uncle gave me a Black Hawk Avenger on a recent hunting trip to Parker, PA that he had laying around. Mostly seems to be the finish peeling off with scratches. However there does seem to be some damage up by the tip on the upper limb...can the bow be repaired? 52 AMO, 52# @ 28, I-68, A-235. Thanks.

Couldn't see the picture.. Unless the limb tip is delaminating..scratches, dings and finish can be re-done-smoothed repaired and older bows put back into good service..But hard to say on yours without good pics..Jim

Just take some sand paper and smooth it out. It isn't into the laminates at all...just aesthetic. The bow is a 1968 model. The 1- 68 means Janurary, 1968. You can clean it up like you would refinish any wood item. Limbs can be sanded to take just the old finish off, then redone with spray polyurethane.

Yep..So long as the only issues are the erosion of the side glass a bit..take 200 grit wet or dry 3M auto paper and smooth and recontour the limb edges just a bit and refinish..Whatever you do..do it symmetrically..The old bow is a shooter-keeper..Just needs a bit of TLC and a proper refinishing..and maybe a new string etc..:) Jim

Well, it took me a while to get off my keester and get the bow up to the Bow Hospital. John Rafferty does excellent work. Had John refinish and reduce the draw weight 4 pounds and add antler tip overlays. Bow came out great and my son absolutely loves it. I would definitely recommend John's work to anyone looking for a refinish and/or draw weight reduction.

Very well done. Great to see old bows back in operation. They have years of arrow flinging left in them....probably decades left as a matter of fact. The Black Hawk factory was just an hour and a half west of where I live.

That's cool George,I picked up a Blackhawk Mosquito that was given to my grandson for his birthday. It look's as old as me but has held up well.

Beautiful! Glad to see another boost for John Rafferty. He has done two of my longbows, they came out spot on for draw weight & flawless craftsmanship- very good work.
