Just took delivery of my new Timber Hawk XTS Scott Mitchell built for me Stained Curley maple venners stained to match with the riser waterfall Cocabola with Babinga accents. Scott really put together a beauty on this one that shoots dead on for me.Spec's are 60" 44 @ 28 fast and smooth just all around beauty that Scott has well surpassed my expectations. Can't wait to crono it with differant arrows. Shot carbons along with woods with very little differance 18 yards and in.

Thank You Scott and thank you Lord for Scott and his talents. I breifly mentioned to him what I wanted and he took it from there. Amasing to see this bow next to my Norm Johnson Blacktail when I first opened the box I thought gee I didn't get another Blacktail. I was blown away with the quality and lines of this particulair bow when I compaired the 2 bows next to each other. My Johnson just happened to be off the rack I was putting a string on it when the knock came at the door and saw the mail man.

The gloss finish really brings out the grain in these woods I had done.

Shot like 30 arrows today out of it and I'm slapping arrows with tight groups, I din't expect this without dialing in and tuning. All I did was string it up check brace and set nock and went out to see what it does.

I need to take some better pictures in the sun light for this one.

Enjoy

Cat

I can only imagine what my bow will look like Steve when one day I am able to get one of your bows too and I really want one. I am selling a few bows and working towards deposit to order one of yours. I love your exotic bows that not only look good but also perform I have been reading about what others have said about your bows too.

Its funny or should I reframe from saying funny it's natural when a man committs his work to the Lord that work will not fail and it will prosper, this bow is a living testimony to faith and yes there are scriptures on this bow. Gods word never comes back void no matter who reads it.

Scott is doing a couple other things I asked him to do on my Long Bow that he said he hasn't done before. I said good I'm the prototype then, the Lord will guide your hands and you will be the craftsman and I have all the confidence in you because you stand for the Lord. He's putting bone tips and some backing on that bow for me in additiona to some special wood combinations.

I am blessed myself to be able to get bows like these and these bows bless others when they read the scritures on them, it's Gods handywork.

Glenn Thanks for all the pics of one of Scott's great bows. Yours is an incredible example of his work. I have one of these bows myself and can testify how awesome a shooter it is. I Have the luxury of living an hour away from his shop. I went down and picked out the woods and spent most of the afternoon with him. Mine is made from the prettiest piece of myrtle I have seen and paired with osage in the riser. The limbs are the same piece of myrtle. I also own 3 of his t/d recurves and they are wonderful as well. Cant help but agree on Scott's character. He is indeed a God fearing Bible believing brother that would do anything to help and he is a man I am proud to call friend. Even his son Levi is a class act and is a great string builder. Good luck with this new bow as I sure love mine.

I shot 3D today and this bow is unreal. Everyone wanted to see it and pick it up and a few shot it. People who I never thought came up to me asking about it. Then they saw the scriptures thats what Scott needs to hear. This bow was fast and dead on. I love this bow. I came home and picked up my Norm Johnson again and looked at this Strike and just thanked God again for how this turned out. If my Long bow turns out just half as good I will be very pleased. I know thats silly to say because I believe as though I already received.

Scott builds a nice bow several guys told me today they looked at his Strikes up at Denton. He's going to sell some of these Strikes they are nice. Well balanced just an all around great bow is what I have experianced 2 days of shooting so far.

Well I did get to crono this new bow wed night and was getting 178 to 180 with Heritage 90's and 145 on the front around 430 grain. I got 168 with a 50-55 wood arrow 560 grain.

I'm sure I can get more speed dialed into this bow with a skinny string and 4 inch straight feathers on carbons and am going to retry when I change some things up. Will advise when completed. I thought this speed from a 44 pound bow was pretty impressive when another guy checked his bow with 550 grain 55-60 wood arrows shot out of a 55 pound bow only got 164 on the crono. I gave him one of my carbons and he got 172 still not as fast as this Strike Timber Hawk. This is a really great bow and with performance like this to start out with off the bench I can only imagine what esle I can get it to do.

I want to get one of Rick Barbees strings on the bow to see what it will do and refletch some carbons with 4 inch feathers.

I have a Timberhawk Strike XT, Zebrawood & Cocobola. 60 inch, 51 @ 28 . You'll never see it for sale unless I'm gone and the wife sells it. Absolute quality. I shoot 27 inch draw now, and it scales 48 @ 27. I shoot a carbon arrow 500 spine, 428 total grains. It chrono'ed at 169fps.

I just ordered a Talon Premier, although I opted to forego the 3 piece wedge. I went with a Chechen riser with an osage stripe in it, osage veneer on side facing shooter, and we are still undecided on the opposite side. Scott is looking for some Tiger myrtle . Build is calendered for August so we have time.

I wanted a Bob Lee bad and was going to get one. But the Strike, which I shoot every day, is just so amazing that I decided to stay with Timberhawk. I just can't say enough about scott & his bows. The man E mails me pics, planes wood to get me a good pic, puts up with constant changes in plans, etc. If he was in England he should be dubbed a knight.

Out of the many expensive custom bows I have I do have to say this strike I favor for shooting and the looks. I was at a shoot on Sunday and people could not keep there eyes off it. Saw one guy I knew and he said hey Glenn let me see your new Blacktail. Not a Blacktail but it looks like one doesn't it.

This is a great shooting bow and Scott is a good craftsman.

You can't beat one Scott's bows. There are 3 Timberhawks in my house. You won't find any of them for sale, ever. I bought my daughter one if his 60" Strikes for her 15th bday, last fall. He built her a beautiful bow in a light weight poundage that she can handle well. 30@28. Good choice on your bow. She's a beauty!

From: Ryman Cat
Date: 14-Mar-12

Well I guess I can say 3 Timber Hawlks in my house to when he gets my long bow done in a few weeks. The strike has a slimmer riser that I like so much more than my TD making a slimer riser in the TD models and I thought he should because a lot of guys like the slimmed down risers in bows today. Turok are you saying your bow or my bow came from the same blank? I'm not so sure of that unless Scott says because I have a lot of waterfall in mine that I wanted. I was specific on the woods I wanted we matched up together I wanted a show peicegloss to show off the wood definitions more.

I did go back and forth with weights a few times heavier then lighter and I am glad I did because this bow is a pleasure to shoot and really balanced well to.

Maybe he will decide to make a 62" strike one day I have herd a couple guys say they would like to have a 62" or even a 64".

From: Lamplighter
Date: 15-Mar-12

Ryman

178 to 180 fps with a 430 grain arrow and #44 draw ?

That exceeded my Strike. I'm shooting 428 grains at a true measured #48 draw, and my chrono averaged 169 fps.

Are you drawing more than 28 inches ? My chrono was 3 feet away. Maybe I need to move it further away ?

Scott not only makes a great bow, but he is one of the nicest fellas you'll ever meet.

From: Ryman Cat
Date: 15-Mar-12

28.5 draw do you have bambo cores in your srike. I didn't exceeed it Scott did when he built the bow I guess is fair to say. Do you have a FF string? I believe I can even get faster speed from it too. Not that it matters just for ha, ha's with these other guys and their rocket bows.

I was 2 to 3 ft away as well I believe to.I was geting impressive speeds with wood arrows too but not near what the carbons were.

I didn't get to try it out wed night I have an eye issue now and didn't go to shoot but want to try 1916's to see where they come in as well. I weighted arrows on the clubs grain scale and then shot the carbons and the woods to see.

The differance in Scott is he lives what he preachs and his work reflects that.

Its not about being a nice guy the Lord is not a respector of man and how a man acts. From what I have seen and learned about Scott lives his faith and its a blessing to see and experiance this in the world today.

I'm going to ask him if one day he can make a 62" I know a few guys he could make them for and I'm one as well to.

You do all know things change and prices go up and to do a gloss bow and extras takes more time so there may be some increase ahead which is understandable if it takes place we should understand.

He charges a more than fair price for the work product he puts out that has exceeded what I expected.

Like I mentioned shooting this bow is a real pleasure and out of all the bows I have this is now my favorite and I once thought I couldn't have a favorite but Scott proved that wrong or should I really give credit to the Lord and that's where it belongs because if God didn't give Scott the ability and make him who he is then we could not benifit from things like this.

Same goes for the other bowyers we know and deal with too that many of us know and have come to love their bows.

Theres plenty of other bowyers out there who are like Scott or even better possibly but Scotts the real deal and is well worthy of having a bow built by him.

Cat

From: sixby
Date: 15-Mar-12

If there are pleanty of other bowyers that do all things as unto Christ then what a blessing that is!!! You sure don't see much of that in this old world and to have it in bowbuilding it a real blessing to all involved. Scotts bow sounds like it is an exceptional performer and when you add the craftsmanship it is an outstanding testimony.

God bless you all, Steve

What I thought the most about was Scotts family he had at Denton this past year that actually said volumes to me. I struck up a conversation Scotts son Levi first he was making strings and I needed a bunch of B50 stings for various bows. I really didn't pay to much attention to any of Scotts bows until the very last day of the shoot I guess. Scotts son was busy making my strings up for me I think it ened up around 2 dozen when I came up to see his progress.

I had a mint Bear K mag and I mean mint I wanted to sell and the son wanted it. Scott came over asked the price I gave it to him and asked me to ship to him. He wanted to give it to Levi as a pressent and I said I'll tell you what use this as a down payment and build me a bow and we will talk later about particulairs when it gets time.

I had him build 2 bows and waiting on my long bow yet that will be something special as well with the wood options and bone tips and a face patch.

I saw over the 4 days up at Denton what a real American family that stood together and enjoyed the shoot together looked like how they carried themselves and stood for the Lord and presented their bows.

I guess when I think back maybe the conversation started out when I showed Scott my Big Jim Buffalo and he looked on the upper limb and saw what I had Jim write: ONE LORD--ONE FAITH--ONE BAPTISM.

That got Scotts attention then I found out who he was as well and he showed me bows he has scipture written on as well about the 2nd day.

I have the same scripture on this bow written.

I'm certainly glad I did some business with this family at Denton its all been very pleasurable and proffesional.

He has my #2 order now. Due Labor Day at the latest.

I went with a 60 inch Talon Premier, but not his stnd. 3 piece riser. I went with a Chechen riser with an Osage half moon stripe in it, Osage veneered limbs both sides, Chechen overlay under the limb bolts, and limb tips, and a 3 wood combo overlay over the back- maple, Osage, and Chechen. He planed the Chechen board and sent me clear outside taken pics of two boards. I got to choose which one I wanted.

Just wanted to Update this old Timberhawk Bow thread.

That Strike I mentioned earlier, I don't know what I was doing then, Learning form I guess, but today it chronos a steady 182 FPS.

I have since taken delivery on the Timberhawk Talon too. It has the bamboo cores. Chechen Riser, Olive Ash face and black locust back, stained with an osage color stain. It too chronos 182 to 184 fps.
