Thats a gorgeous bow but I'm wondering how in Gods creation am I going to show just which one when I'm really blessed with a number of bad to the bone bows. Big Jim,Johnson Blacktail I just got a wooded up Stalker that shoots like a dream. My 66' Renaissance JD Berry I love and on and on my Fedoras where should one end or start for that matter? For 2012 I'm looking forward to having 2 Vintage Works bows built and 3 others scheduled with beautiful exotic woods and tricked up with glossy finish. My favorites the killing sticks are some works also and then come the classics. Lifes to short to hold and use rough looking sticks.
I only had a desire to own one Silvertip LB I missed and it was just gorgeous also. Who knows maybe I'll come into one some day and change my thoughts.
That sure is a purty Silvertip TD and I feel lately like going to 1 piece bows although I have allways favored TD's to travel hunting with.

Some threads on here get kind of tiresome, but I never get tired of looking at all this great eye candy. We have some amazing craftsmen out there building some truly incredible bows.
I often wonder if there are any female bowyers doing the same.

Sometimes things that look good go not work too well. I am betting that there is not a bow in this thread that is not a great shooter as well. The Gharing not only looks good it shoots great. That grip fits like it was made for me and I bought the bow used.

I love it when these old threads come up again...if you scroll up you will notice my post as damascusdave asking Paul about the beavertail rest on his Blacktail bow...since that time I traded the ACS CX for a gorgeous RER LXR, sold the Gharing for cash to a new shooter, and bought Paul's Blacktail pictured above which is, of course, my current best looking bow (at least until my Kodiak Deluxe arrives)

This bamboo backed belly bow James Parker made for my elk hunt last year is a beauty to me. 57# @ 28". Japanese bamboo, Osage riser, three lams yew and osage, ostrich leather grip, albino water buffalo tips. Picture was on the Delores river in southern Colorado. And yes I did shoot one across the canyon and yes I did kill an elk with the bow.

My entry, A 60" Bighorn Takedown all in zebrawood. The 15"cresent riser has an Asbell grip. 47# at 28" and this bow shoots as good as it looks! "Thank you Burt" for letting me buy it from you! I own four complete Bighorn bows with two extra sets of limbs. I do Love my Bighorns. Shot my best 3D score to date with this bow. Not as pretty as some of these others, but I would not trade it for another.

As a woodworker, a piece of pretty wood is a commodity to me, not something to spend 500 bucks on when it only cost 20 or thirty. A lot of fancy wood is often structurally questionable.
What gets me excited is pictures of the whole bow strung and unstrung, this is mostly a thread of pictures of risers, or even small bits of risers, not bows. These days, even the advertising websites and such, often don't show a pic of the whole bow, just risers. Strange world.

So many beautiful creations on here. A few standouts for me, obviously Blacktails and Silvertips, but the Big River super Kodiak replicas (love the shape of those), Bear supreme TD, 64" Morrison (wow), Thunderhorn heartstopper, Curt's Hunterbows (nice), Overbo's sleek riser bow, PaPa's Bear, and esp. Rymnan's red Heritage. Something about that red bow... it's the winner. I love this sport and what can be done with wood. Any other form of archery (ie., commercial advanced tech.) falls far short of complete IMO. These have it all, form, function, and a personal touch of uniqueness. Thanks for showing 'em. This is my favorite (don't own many).

1969 Bear Tamerlane. The arrows are tapered cedar, made in England for a man known as 'Uncle Hat' Harold Titcomb, a famous archer til his death in 1957. These were some of his arrows (I assume from the 1950s that I've re-furbished. They have ebony self-nocks and fly great from this Tamerlane!

Kind of interesting to look back on this thread...I asked Paul how he liked the beaver arrow rest on his Snakebit...well I owned that bow for a while since that time passing it along to a good home...I posted pictures of my Gharing noting the riser was made of Macassar Ebony...later on I learned, from the original owner, that is a piece of truly incredible cocobolo...that bow too went to a new home...and like hillbillyking I have to say the Kodiak Deluxe is right up there with the best looking bows ever built...I currently have a Rose Oak Ace in the mail to me and I had Brandon add a butcher block i beam

It's a hammer. Hardest shooting bow I own. By a wide MARGIN. Good on squirrels out to 36 yards too. :^)

I've bought two more Bear Kodiak Takedowns since this thread was started. One is a 1984 Green Stripe in factory camo which is nice but I wouldn't say good looking. But I just bought this 2016 Red Stripe Kodiak Takedown which is a pretty good looking bow.

My Blacktail Legacy series bow. 49 pound @28 inches, 62 inch in length. The riser is black walnut with myrtle. The limbs consist of tiger stripe myrtle and york gum burl. The riser also features boxwood and silver inlaid elements. The limb bolts are hand engraved and the stag is fully hand carved. This is my best looking bow.

We should have a rule that someone brings this thread up once a month...certainly in the running for the best thread ever on the Leatherwall...there is even a Holy Grail bow in there if you look closely

I finally managed to get some decent pics of this great RER...the bow is an LXR and the longbow limbs make it an LX...looks just as good with the static tip limbs...the same great bookend bocote veneers

Larry...is that the bow Jozsef made for you? What is the length and draw weight? It looks pretty amazing.
