Have a used Northwind longbow, anyone know anything about these bows. It is a good shooting bow and it has a reverse handle.

Made by Gerry Fiegl from New York...I believe. I talked to him several times when he was a vendor at Denton Hill. He may still set up there, I just haven't noticed lately. Gerry's bows are smooth and well made, and most I have seen are the smallish 50's style risers. Never heard anything bad about the Northwind bows.

I was going through my closet and found it on the back shelf, forgot I even had it. Strung it up and started shooting it. 60inch 57# at 28. She is a shooter. I only pull 26 so shooting about 50#. She might go turkey hunting with me in a couple of months.. Went outside and put four in the kill zone at 20 or so yards with my cedars.

Yes they are made by Gerry Fiegle here in WNY. I have a 62" longbow 59#@26, and a 56" recurve 59#@28. Both bows have short risers, and I love them both. The longbow has bacote over osage, with bacote riser. The recuve has Bamboo limbs with cocobolo riser. This recurve is smooth and fast! I have met other people who have Northwinds and have not heard anything negative. Tim

I have a Northwind Flatbow. As George stated, excellent craftsmanship, well built. IMO Northwind bows are one of the most underrated bows out there. There cost is comparable to Northern Mist, equally well made, aesthetically nice and smooth shooting.

I have a 60" recurve with yew limbs,it's one of the bows you keep! just that good.Have always wanted a one of Gerrys longbows to go with it,but understand he is not building bows anymore.In this time of $1000. bows Gerrys and Jim DuCloses bows stand out as what a really good bow can be without that high price

Yeah I agree I have a 56 inch recurve he made which I think I will try to kill a bull elk with this season.

Late to the game. I just bought a Northwind 50s recurve 56", 57#@28". I shoots wonderful Straight grip like Great Northern Ghost. The workmanship is exceptional.

Reverse riser longbow was called the Gem. Great bow, all Gerry, bows were well made and good performers!!! He no longer builds bows, sadly!!

I own both a Gem and a Curve - great both and very affordable at the time. If anyone comes across a used one, highly recommend you purchase it.

I picked up a used Tempest T/D longbow. Not sure Gerry ever built one, might of been aftermarket.

That was a bow that got too heavy for me. I sold it to a fella who needed a couple of bows for his two sons. I gave him two bows for the boys and gave him a deal he couldn't pass up for the longbow.

The bow had Built for Gerry something, I cant make out the last name.The bow is named "Wild Goose" and is 48#28.
