Just got a new Vermilion River bow by Bill Pfleger. AMO 62", 59# @ 28". Made of Texas Ebony w Tx Ebony veneers and cores. Super nice wood, very, very smooth, quiet, comfortable bow.

I was afraid it might be a little heavy for me, but it is so smooth I hardly notice the weight. Bill Pfleger makes an extremely nice shooting bow.

Nice looking bow does he have a web-site? Any contact info?

Thanks, Gerry

Bill Pfleger, started making bows under his name, W. J. Pfleger, but recently has gone to his trade name, Vermilion River Bows. I believe he's been in the business since the late 80's or early 90's. I think a web site is in the works, but right now his contact is through email at [email protected]. He gets some beautiful woods and his bows are as smooth as anything I have ever shot.

Man Oh Man That is a beauty!! that Texas ebony is stunning. And you say it has Ebony Core wood? I bet she is stable. Hows the cast on her?

Rob, Only got to shoot this bow a little today, maybe 75 shots, and was mostly tuning. I wound up with bare shafts and fletched hitting inside a 1 1/2" spot at 15 yds (ST 340 carbon @ 31 3/8") and practically no noise. All the VR bows I have ever shot are very smooth, no shock, but this one, being a little heavier, is amazingly stable. While I was tuning for brace height I kept forgetting what I was doing -- there was practically no noise at all, and after I let the string go the only thing I felt was the weight of the bow in my hand. No shock, no bounce, no vibration -- no nothing. Just the sound of the arrow hitting the target.

As far as cast from this bow, don't really know, but I bet it is long. The arrows look to be going really fast. I'll try to get it through a chrono this week. I do know a Vermilion River bow same AMO but 56# @ 28 with maple cores was shooting this same arrow 201fps with B50 flemish twist string (only string I use). This bow is noticeably faster.

That said, I prefer heavier aluminum arrows for hunting, but this time of year just shoot targets with carbon.

I'll have to get a pic of the other edge of the limbs. The dark ebony on that side of the core is pretty attractive.

I have a palmer made with texas ebony, but I say the way the V.R. with the light and dark mixed naturally, is even better. Never thought I'd say that! Beautiful bow!

Hey Guys Cal has hit the nail on the head. I have 4 of Bills bows. Everything he said is a fact. These bows are very stable in the hand no handshock and no noise. It is as fast as my buddies Fedora. I will try to get pictures of my bows on here. Besides I can add Bill is a super nice guy and very easy to work with. He has sent pictures of all my bows as he is building them. What more do you want and he will give your money back if you arent happy.

Renegade is right on about Bill -- he won't start or quit until you are happy with your bow and updates regularly with pics of the work in progress.

I need to add one thing about the ebony bow. The limb belly has a tapered actionboo lam with a parallel ebony lam on the back.

I got my first VR bow on ebay and had to contact Bill when the seller forgot to send the riser (seems it got tossed with the excess packing stuff). Bill built a new riser for the limbs -- that bow was so impressive I now own 3 of his bows, and hope to make it 4. Bill comes up with some beautiful wood choices, and I'm sure he would look for a specific wood if you asked.

No disappointment in dealing with Bill.

Thanks for all the compliments, especially Cal and Terry. This my retirement job to help make ends meet and I enjoy working with wood. It's rewarding to make something useful and pleasing to the eye. If you have any questions I am VRB (Vermilion River Bows) on stickbow,I might be able to help you. Bill

Thanks for posting Bill the first bow and the last three are mine. Cal are we racing to see who can own(hog) more of these bows? I think I can say I would get rid of the rest of mine and only have these and I would be happy. The other thing I wanted to mention is he gets them in your hands in about a month. Terry

Renegade is a close friend and as honest as they come. He has owned several well known bows and when he talks up a bow, you know it has genuine merit. Everything Terry has told me about Bill Pfleger has been glowing praise for his craftsmanship and work ethic. If I wasn't in grad school and so doggone "frugal", I would be sorely tempted to investigate a VRB myself.

Renegade, Wow, you got some beautiful bows. I hope to get one more VR bow before the tax mantakes my house.

My VR bows are a serious problem for me. I cannot decide which of the 3 is my favorite. I'll shoot one, choose it, then the next day shoot another, choose it, etc. They are all super shooters and as comfortable as it gets. The amazing thing is the lightest one, 51#, shoots faster than many other bows in the mid 50's, so I can;t just choose because of speed.
