We cover many of the same topics over and over...nature of a site like this with people coming and going...but I haven't seen a thread on where you live. How about some pics of your little piece of Heaven. Being in the military I live in a neighborhood so I'll spare you my den, but I'm sure some of you have a backwoods hunter's paradise. Make us salavate. Ranger B

Ranger B: You know I can relate! There was a thread a couple of months ago labled something about backyards. It didn't take long to start getting a bit envious.

Perhaps those pics can be posted here again?

From: longshot

very nice pictures! hey crossed arrows, i hunted the cache la poudre in the mid 80's for muleys, didn't get any but had oppurtunitys, had a bear tear our camp to smithereens one day. beautful country!

From: Crossed Arrows
Date: 06-Feb-08

longshot - There are still mulies up higher, but I live about 10 miles up the canyon and the DOW killed off almost all of the mulies a few years ago because they were afraid of the chronic wasting disease. It'll be several years before I'll have them looking in my windows again.

Oh, by the way, after killing so many and testing them, the DOW found very little evidence. "We're from the government, we're here to help you."

From: Snag
Date: 06-Feb-08

Yeah, they keep us entertained. Them and the grey squirrels. One October-November we had 100 head of elk back there. Woke up to a bull bugling and couldn't believe my ears until my wife whispered, "is that an elk?" lol Looks like you have a nice piece of ground to hunt Tradnewbie.

My wife and I purchased 23 acres of landlocked, forested wetland about 15 miles form our home. The farm we hunted that abuted the land told us they would give us a right of way if we bought it so others wouldn't buy it and use it for fourwheel racing and such. It was cheap an the taxes are low. We got a moose about 200 yards from our line this year and have plenty of deer and turkey on the property. Here's some pics of the deer and other critters that our trail cam has captured. We are just learning the deer habits but nearly connected several times. Next year will be good.

AK, Emerson tame whitetails. That would NOT happen here in NY at least not where I live. It is like that in Old Forge in the Adirondacks, deer all over town and come right up to you to be fed, but no way around here. It always amazes me how skinny bucks' necks look in summer, but how much they swell up and look so robust during the rut. Nice looking place you have there there...
