I'm suprised you don't hear more about them than you do this is an awesome bow.I did not get it for speed but it's the fastest bow I have.I can interchange between my other three bows well because they shoot at about the same speed but my recluse at 52lbs is shooting about 6-8 inches high I feel confident that I could pick up any of the other three and hunt with whichever one I wanted but I'm going to have to lay those down for a while before I hunt with the cluse different sight picture. I would not call it a pretty bow more like a "bad" looking bow kinda like comparing a Holland&Holland shotgun to a street sweeper.I hope I can post some pics soon.

Had to do some looking to find a place where someone knew who E.T. Williams even was. Through a death I recently inherited a brand new Brown Recluse, Carbon Spider. Any idea what it is worth?

The Brown Recluse Carbon Spider by ET Williams was the first traditional bow I was ever interested in. Never did get around to ordering one but I always admired the performance specs I read about on the bow. Here's what the ol' Sarge has to say about a bow thread with no pics... :-)

E.T. and Ken beck were partners years ago. Their first proto-type bow was called the Black Recluse....or Brown Widow.....can't remember too well.
Anyhoo.....the rest, as they say, is archives. ;-)

Got a Brown Recluse about a month ago as well. 54@28, and it is fast. I have the brace height at 6 inches, and it shoots 500 grain arrows like darts. However, it's a little loud. I think I may have it braced too high at 6 inches..

Nova, you have some balls to order a BR after the rep ET left for that company.
I owned two and had to deal with that guy way too long. This is no reflection on Tom Curtis. I never dealt with him.

Had it out last Saturday at the lost tribe shoot. Will be out at Herb later this week shooting as well. You need to test it out. BR could be your next bow...Tom's making a Panther for my wife with cocobolo riser and bamboo limbs. She should have it by Twin Oaks shoot. Going to try to get photos if I can figure out how to work the camera on phone.

I think the riser might make the bow look heavy or ungainly, but they are not any heavier than a Widow or Predator, and are surprisingly well balanced.

Tom is a good guy to deal with, and I had the bow about 3 months after ordering. Don't think the design can be easily mistaken for any other bow out there....

Thanks Buddyb, the suspense was wearing me down. Nice looking bow but I think it is left handed and the limbs are on backward. Bet it is fast when you get it sorted out. All kidding aside how does the grip feel when you draw the bow. Would really like to see a full report. Not often do you see a really new design.

Airdale, that is not new. The thread itself is 11+ years old, and those bows came out in the mid 80's I believe..or thereabouts. I know it's been a good while. I remember the original hype about the bow but also heard they could be jumpy with the forward limb design. Never had a chance to shoot one, but there isn't thousands of them out there either. Some of the guys here apparently like them and I don't know if anyone is making them again. The original ads showed impressive speeds but we know numbers can be deceiving.

Gearge is right--mine can be a little "twitchy" is how I would describe it. youd be impressed how fast it will throw an old skinny beeman 60/80 pultruded carbon hunter.... But its much more stable with the POC's and 5" fletches I normally shoot it with. I do like the feel, though The super low brace wacks me every once in a while if my wrist isnt perfectly inline--and it has a high wrist grip.
