Nate Steen finished my Sunset Hill Takedown, the first of it's kind----two-piece sleeved design.

I visited Nate in Twin Falls yesterday. After a little bit of roving and one shot at a rabbit, I declared her more than fit for action and brought my new bow home. What a beauty!

But more importantly, she shoots like a dream! I've been shooting all morning. She's now trained and ready for action in the field.

78" pounds at 28", 66" long, with spring-like limbs of tempered bamboo under clear glass, AND she's a take- down, perfect for fly-in hunts. Australia--------here I come!

P.S. Note the inscription Nate put on the bow.

Rik, great looking bow!

What are the dimensions of the grip: width/depth? Thanks.

God bless,

José

great looking bow!!!!!!!!

Width: 1 3/8

Depth: 2"

(measured with calipers)

I have several other sleeved take-downs, but none as well-crafted as this.

Nate took his time and did it right. If you didn't know it was a take-down, you would never even think that it was. It just looks like a normal bow.

Rik

Is that a strip of white glass in the core? Is this something new that Nate is doing with his bows? Wow, what a great looking bow!

Scott

Scott, that is a strip of white glass. I think Nate puts it in for stability, but it could be there to put more zing into the arrow. Seems to shoot a bit flatter than my other Hills.

I just shot a couple of bulls eyes (two center-punched leaves) a few minutes ago in a strong wind. Man I love an accurate bow!

Can someone forward me Nate's contact info? I lost my hard drive and lost it.

Thanks

What, only 78#-you getting weak in your old age? :)

Seriously, if you like this type/style of bow you won't find anyone better to build you one.

Gorgeous, Rik! Yer Hill bows are gonna be jealous... Luck to ya "down under" - gonna try to bring back some Ribteks?

Very Nice!

I also love small torque free handles. My favorite is the small sleeve take-down. Here's mine, Not a Sunset but a Hill, the grip measures 1 5/16" wide by 1 3/4" deep. Love those Bamboo Hill bows:)

Best:)

Is this a string follow design? I notice no overlays,so can we assume that is a b50 string as well?

From: Rik
Date: 19-Jan-10

TRAXX,

It is a string-follow bow, but the string that came with it was a 24-strand Fastflite.

Nate builds his bows to shoot Fastflite. He told me he has dry-fire tested them on his bows, with no problem (24 strand).

I was actually surprised that I like how the Fastflite string shot. I have shot thinner ones and I absolutely hated how they felt in my fingers.

I made the string you see in the above photos to compare the sound of the FastFlite to the sound of a 15-strand Dacron string, which is what I normally hunt with.

Daddy Bear,

That truly is a great photo. Back in the day, I would have featured that photo on the cover of my magazine. Small game hunting is just so much fun!

Great job on the photo, but you need to turn off the date and time feature on your camera. One of these days you will take a photo destined for a magazine cover, and you don't want a date and time on it.

P.S. What's you favorite squirrel recipe? No fair keeping it secret. This is the LEATHERWALL.
