49#@28" Osage selfbow I recently posted sent a 55# D&M Custom woodie tipped with a Zwickey No Mercy double bevel through the base of his neck and out his back to drop him on the spot. He came in alone on a trail that leads to a vernal pond the critters use and turned facing me at about 8 yards 5 minutes after I settled in. I used a blind to stay dry and hidden. These past couple rainy mornings have been the most action-packed since the season opened on the 20th for my private land tag. I wish my son was along, but he's in Florida with his mom having a blast.

I always enjoy everyone's pics and stories, so I figured I'd share mine. Enjoy the pics!

I figured someone might ask, so I did a couple quick measurements. I'll weigh him here in a few but his beard is 11.5" and his spurs are both approximately an inch and an eighth.

I plan to use as much of him as I can, feathers, bones and all.

Grateful to Mother Nature for giving me one of her beautiful creatures to enjoy. Happy hunting!

Thanks guys! The bow, season and the bird are pretty special to me for a lot of reasons, one of which is that I made the bow knowing it was one of two that I was planning to shoot and hunt with, then decide which I'd gift to my brother-in-law. I already decided before the season started that it would be this one, so I wrote my nickname for him on it and have been shooting and just BSing while holding it around him and he still hasn't noticed :)

I think I'll bring it down to Tennessee this week and give it another good workout before I hand it over next week sometime.

I also incorporated his late brother's name into the bow's name. We've both lost brothers, so we share a bond over that as well as just being good friends. His brother's name is Tim.

Everything about it is special as it should be. for many, it is rare to have a brother n law like that, he will be blown away by the gift for what it is and what it means to be from you like this.

Thank you gentlemen! I'm still jacked about it. Had a beer with my brother in law showing off the bow and he still hasn't noticed! Maybe my little sister is right about him :)

The meat is all trimmed and in the freezer, I'm gonna take a breast to the Classic and beg Pappy for a recipe and some grease. I wanna contribute to the potluck so I can eat like a fat kid. Good luck hunting to all you guys!

It is no small feat to take a longbeard with a selfbow! Love the look on that bow ! Sometimes I think turkeys are harder to harvest than deer?

Appreciate the kind words, guys!

Harry, I can't tell ya how many years I've chased these things with a bow. Start making my own and only took 3 more seasons ;)
