I will echo that same question, I have been considering buying a set, but I have blown so much money on bows in the past, that $400 is halfway to a Shrew, or Edgart or some other longbow with recurve type handle, that I am hesitant to jump in with both feet on a set of limbs for the Takedown Bear, but I just might.

Interesting idea but personally, if I wanted a longbow, I would get a real one.

There really nothing new, they made them in the 80's and were a failure no one liked them.

Actually they are a complete redesign because of the 80's failure. Now whether they accomplished the goal has yet to be seen.
There were a lot of favorable comments at Kalamazoo, but I personally did not shoot them.

I am aware they made a set in the 80’s. These are different. I agree they do look funny but some people think black widows look funny. I have several “Real” Longbows. I also have several Bear Takedowns. I just think it would be cool to have the option to switch limbs. I hope to try some out at Cloverdale if there is an option too. Thanks for the info.

Yep, something like the Shrew is probably better. I have been shooting 3D lately and in the longbow class at this range, to be competitive, for me, at least, I would have to get a Shrew or maybe these longbow limbs on a Bear riser. I have pretty much decided that I am at a big disadvantage trying to compete against good shots, with these hybrid longbows, with my ASL's, like my Northern Mist. I love shooting the ASL's, and hunting with them, but it would take a lot better shot than me to be competitive against these new hybrid bows.

I don't think they look funny at all...I think they look pretty cool.

I had a set and the performance wasn't that good. You had to run a higher brace height then what I would of preferred. If I was going to run long bow limbs, I'd run a pair from Kirk at Bigfoot bows. I had a chance to shot a set of his limbs, and they're much much better.

Anthony, When you say performance wasn't that good, and I don't doubt it, but compared to what? I am not too worried about having the fastest bow, just one that is forgiving and accurate. Forgiving and accurate is my main concern. How would you rate the Bear longbow limbs with that in mind?

I had a pair from Kirk as well. Shot ok. Low brace height. What I really missed from recurve tips was being able to flick fallen branches off trails when stalking.
Just me being anal.
