I enjoy both of my Wes Wallace Royal bows. I had a Bear Montana that shot good also but not as smooth as the Wallace’s. I have also shot the Black Widow Lb’s as well. To be honest it was a toss up between the Wallace and BW my last purchase. But I got more bang for my buck with Wes Wallace.

Paul that’s a nice looking longbow.
M60, you are correct. The Wes Wallace is defiantly a top tier longbow.

seems like alot of bows getting grouped into the Mild R&D category on these threads about mild R&Ds are really more moderate reflex deflex and not a true Mild R&D like the originals by Bowyers like Robertson,Great Northern,J.D Berry,Frederick longbows,Dwyer original longbow,Mohawk,Mahantango Kestral,Yellowstone longbow,Northern Mist Superior and Baraga and one like the Stewart posted above by Paul.Thats not his Slammer longbow.
Thier are new ones being built by other newer Bowyers that fall into the MILD R&D category.
Anyway I have had quite a few.Thier good all around bows. They have a classic appearance to them strung and string into a true D shape. Most are cut 1/8th out from center due to the diminutive risers.Mostly narrow deep core limbs. Most have locator grips.
But some have a flatbow limb like Great Northern Bushbow,Dwyer Defiant,Northern Mist Huron (no longer made) and a few others.Mild R&D profile but flatbow limb and D shaped strung.

This RER #55@28” (for which I had no particular need when I acquired it!) has been my daily driver pretty much since the day it showed up. It could probably be faster, but it’s really pleasant to shoot, and most days, I can hit with it pretty OK.

I have a few favorites, but they are vintage semi recurves which is basically the same thing. I have a couple I made myself which are bamboo under clear glass with zebra wood risers, and have made wood bows in that style. Nice shooters.

Hi Matt, I think we talked a long time ago. Anyway I have had age mild D/R bows that I really liked. One I should never have gotten rid of was an older style Liberty Chief. I was talking about a new bow with Sllen Boice and he commented he had an older style Chief form that he really liked and said I don’t know why I got away from that style”.
So that intrigued me and I said ok let’s make that one. It was 64” and 50#. When was done he said “ I don’t know how it happened but the locator section of the grip got away from me and it ended up deeper than normal. But I’ll send it to you and see what you think”. I think he started making more like that bow. Well, I thought it shot great so I kept it. But as years went on I traded it for something else that I had to have. Big mistake.

I have to agree with what bowhunt said. I have a Black Widow PL longbow and would not consider it a mild r/d, it's definitely a moderate r/d. I love the bow, but it's in a different category.

I have probably too many bows of various styles and enjoy every one of them but from day one, and the one I'll never get rid of is my Dwyer Original. The irony is that I own several that I had "custom" from Dave but this one was a stock bow he brought to our annual banquet and he was hesitant to sell because he'd forgotten one thin lamination in the riser. It's purely aesthetic but he was jokingly embarrassed for the oversight. I took a couple of shots with it and told him it was coming home with me. It doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well, but it's darn good at all things. 66" and 48@28". Boo cores sandwiched between working yew, and very trapped limbs. I love that bow so much that if any of you have another Original you're not shooting let me know!

Interesting story about your Boice Chief Gary.
I had one of his original older Chiefs. It was mild R&D.It shot really really well.Wish I had kept that one!!!
When he changed it to more moderate R&D I did not think it was as good a shooter as the original.Sounds like Allen thought the same thing.

My all time favorite type of bow! Have and have had many...starting in the 80's, Robertson's buffalo, A Shawnee Spirit, tho Flatbows, they were mild R/Ds. JD Berry Renaissance bows, a Serpentine also ...GN's Bushbow, Critter gitter, Field bow (recent acquisition). Some others I can't remember right now that are gone... except for my Elburg Jaguars...they're the cats azz imo. Pic coming.....

Sorry for the oversized pics Phil. Doing this on a Google Pixel phone, I can "crop" the pic but doing that sometimes enlarges the pic even more....and I don't see that until I post ...nowhere can I find a way to keep the content of the pic without cutting off some of the desired content I want to post.
Anybody here know a way around that? With Google Pixel?

I spent a lot of time shooting my 66" Abbott longbow last weekend at a trad shoot. Then today I broke out my 68" Greatree Solo and shot through my bag course. Both are great examples of mild RD longbows.
I shoot recurves and hybrids really well but keep coming back to my two longbows. They are so simple, so stable, and just a joy to shoot. I don't know why but I'm always pleasantly surprised at how accurate they are from the very first shot. We are a good fit.

I am very happy with my Yellowstone Longbow. It is pretty much all I shoot these days. I also have two Marriah Chinooks that have served me well. One is now too heavy for me to shoot much these days. The other still gets some good range time occasionally.

My first custom was a beautiful Robertson Mystical. It was very nice looking, but the problem was I overbowed myself and thought I could work into it. It was 66” and 60#. I never did get the hang of shooting it but I am sure nothing wrong with the bow. Just the guy pulling the string.
I did like the grip on that one very much.
